Her early successes in the performing arts, which we now know by the name of Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her for the "child prodigy" category. It was an innate trait for a girl of Irish heritage, that was surrounded during the beginning by gifted family members as well as parents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh - a suburb of Dublin in Ireland on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was a contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin firm, as well as had shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this lovely family. Maureen was a natural athlete and was a fan of tough athletic games. This natural interest and her talent in performing was astonishing. This was apparent when she won every Feis for drama and theater the Irish had to provide. At the age of 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and allowed her to live out her dream in classical theater as well as singing opera.
