Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother Pam was a backing singer at Philadelphia International Records. At the age of five, of age, her dad landed in the role of curator of The city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the landmark historical building. The 2005 Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts student, she is a major in vocal music. Sullivan started singing in children's choir as a contralto and then she joined the adult choir a few years after that. His exposure to secular music was at first sporadic "I had solo performances in the church, and I was asked to be a part of the gospel label at age had turned eleven, however I wasn't at the point of doing that," she recalls. "Then the time came that McDonald's had a competition for kids in major cities and I was offered the chance to perform "Accept What God Does' on Showtime on the Apollo and the audience were very supportive". Stevie Wonder sang her part during his 13th birthday celebration. Sullivan began her contract with Jive Records at the age 15. As a teenager the label signed her to Jive Records. She recorded an entire album there, but the album was never made available for release. Sullivan was eventually dropped from the label. Missy Elliott was her producer for a few tracks from her first album. The track "Backstabbers" from Timbaland and Timbaland, which Elliott wrote, is a significant moment in their partnership.
